SUMMARY
Concern for the environment has increased in the 1990s. Many groups in our
society, such as customers, environmental organisations, shareholders and
the media, demand that companies become responsible and take care of the
environment. Companies can use the Environmental Management System (EMS) to
organise their environmental work. The purpose of this study was to
elucidate how companies can use the EMS in the promotionmix, which consists
of advertising, direct marketing, sales promotion, personnel selling and
public relations. This was investigated through making a case study of NKV
and Inexa Profil AB and four personal interviews were conducted. The study
shows that every promotion tool in the promotionmix can be used to inform
about the EMS, but public relations seems to be the most popular tools
today. The study also shows that the way these tools are used to inform
about EMS varies depending on the tool.
