SAMMANFATTNING
The aim of this essay is to explore the theme of central relationships, together with the concepts of parenthood and family life, in Doris Lessing's The Fifth Child and The Summer Before the Dark. The analysis is divided into two parts: in the first section the important relationships in the novels are discussed, and in the second section the themes of parenthood and family life are dealt with.
